Professorship for Medieval Art History

My research
"Since the beginning of my career, I have been fascinated by the powerful communicative force and emotional intensity of medieval art, as well as its surprising diversity and aesthetic pluralism. I have contextualized these aspects with imagination and intuition, introducing concepts such as living images and visual aggression to explore the non-religious perception of medieval art. Recently, my focus has been on somesthetics, giants, and scale, as well as on the formation of subjectivity. I see the engagement with medieval art as a ‘safe space’ in which current challenges and identities can be reflected upon and reconsidered."
