Opening hours and locations

The opening hours and availability of service units of the University of Vienna and individual locations – such as libraries, Study Service Offices and advice centres – may vary depending on the individual location. The central directory for locations and opening hours contains a full list of addresses, regular opening hours, opening hours of the porters’ lodges, maps of the Main Building on the Ringstrasse road as well as a list of all university locations.

Please be aware that different opening hours apply on bank holidays and during the period when there are no classes

Opening hours from 14 July until 29 August 2025

Between 14 July and 29 August 2025 all buildings of the University of Vienna are open Monday to Friday from 06:00 until 20:00. Saturday opening hours remain unchanged. On Sundays and on 15 August (bank holiday) the buildings are closed.

Regular opening hours

Regular opening hours for most locations:

  • Monday to Friday 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Saturday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • The University of Vienna buildings are closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Please note that there are special exceptions for the following locations:

  • Rennweg 14, 1030 Vienna: Closed on Saturdays
  • Dr.-Bohr-Gasse 9, 1030 Vienna: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., closed on Saturdays
  • Währinger Straße 29, 1090 Vienna: Saturdays 7 a.m. – 6.30 p.m.
  • Währinger Straße 38-42, 1090 Vienna: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., closed on Saturdays
  • Spitalgasse (University Campus), 1090 Vienna: Saturdays 7 a.m. – 6.30 p.m.
  • Gymnasiumstraße 50/Franz-Klein-Gasse 1, 1190 Vienna: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

As Austria’s largest university, the University of Vienna has around 60 locations in Vienna. The Main Building of the University of Vienna is located at the address Universitätsring 1 in the centre of Vienna (1st district). Further major locations such as the Campus of the University of Vienna are located in or near the centre of the city in the 1st, 3rd and 9th districts of Vienna. All locations can be easily reached using public transport.
